Drug & Alcohol Prevention and Education


Southside Travellers employ a full time Drug Prevention & Education Worker to support Travellers to address drug & alcohol issues within the community.


Support is offered to individuals, families and the community through support and advice, information & awareness programmes, and referral to specialist drug & alcohol services if needed.


An example of the services include;

- individual support for young people abusing drugs and alcohol

- support for parents and families dealing with addiction in the home

- referral to drug counselling, treatment centres, and family support groups

- education and awareness programmes for parents, youths, and staff to raise awareness of drug & alcohol issues 

- engagement of youths in positive social, recreational and sporting activities
